Keeping Busy….

Our family has been trying to keep our spirits up and ourselves occupied during our quarantine. We are in week 3 and it may seem that these photos are redundant from previous posts– because they are. We are doing many of the same activities and adding some new ones. Bare with me as there are a lot of photos in this post. I am really striving to capture it all and make the mundane look a little more special so my kids will look back on this time and remember the good that came of it. We are healthy and settling into this new lifestyle as best we can. It is hard but we are making it work. For now, here are my photos and my “journal” notes for each. Sending you all wishes for good health and safety.

My husband is working on strengthening his core. He spends time every day doing various exercises to improve his body. Very inspirational.

Our home is constantly shifting the locations where we each do work, school and chats.

Today I asked them to show me expressions of how this quarantine and Coronavirus epidemic feels to them (left). Then their dad pulled a quick April Fools prank to capture the photo on the right!

I have decided to work at being in more of the photos. I have purchased something that will help but it has not come yet. Today I set the camera on a tripod and asked the kids to join me. I have never taken a portrait of myself with them until today.

Personal Pics!

In the last month I have taken a handful of personal photos that I wanted to share. First, I brought my camera to the Mother’s Day celebration with my family. It has been 6 months since the birth of my niece and we had not yet captured a photo of the six grandkids/cousins together so I thought it would be great to try. We did a photo with just the kids and one with my mom. The next photo session I did was for my husband’s birthday. I do not capture photos of him nearly as often as I should and thought I should try to capture this special time in his life. The last day I had my camera was Father’s Day. I brought it with both sides of our family to capture and document these times in our lives.

Beautiful in yellow & blue

I love the color choices made by this family for their holiday mini session. It was colorful and so well coordinated and a combo I hadn’t seen before! We did the session at Temescal Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades on my 30 minute holiday mini session day and we captured lots of fun photos of this beautiful bunch. A new and beautiful location!

I was skeptical to go downtown LA to a park I had never seen for this family session. To my great surprise, it was absolutely breathtaking and such fun to shoot in a new place! If you have not visited Vista Hermosa Park, it is worth going to! It was a charming and quaint park among the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. There was greenery, walking paths, views of the cityscape and even a playground. Here are some samples from this session.

a cool gift idea.

I was recently contacted by a woman who wanted to get portraits done of her and her sons as a gift for her husband. She was so sweet and friendly and the brothers were charming and sweet with their mom. We started out at a park in Beverly Hills and then went to a family friend’s home because dad was sick at home and the shoot was a surprise. The home we used was really a perfect backdrop for our session with many interesting environments and places to shoot! I thought this was a very creative gift idea. Here are my favorites!

Charlee is a big sister!

About a year and a half ago I met and photographed sweet baby Charlee. Well, she recently became a big sister and I got to photograph her and her darling baby brother Walker. We did pictures in their home and Charlee loved holding her little brother who was just seven weeks old. I really enjoyed getting to see this beautiful family again and see how Charlee has grown. picture perfect.

I recently photographed this adorable family for their holiday card photos. The kids were so much fun to watch and photograph. We did formal portraits first and then let the kids play and interact. They were silly, smiley and sweet and so full of life. These are my favorite photos from the shoot!

Sweet Sisters!

Photographing this beautiful family took me back in time to my childhood with my sisters. The way they interacted, twirled their dresses and giggled together was magical. Ava and Samantha were five and three and could not have been any sweeter. We did part of the session in the yard, went inside the home and each girl did portraits in her room. A day at the beach!

I have gotten to watch Dylan and Gavin grow up through the years and we had so much fun at our beach session. The weather was perfect and they were at a great age for having their pictures taken.
