It’s the little things.

This week was pretty much the same as the others though a couple things were a little different but made a big difference. For the first time EVER, my husband offered to clean the house. I didn’t think it would actually happen. But he did it and it gave me the day off from cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, I still did laundry, helped with the kids school work, tidied the kitchen as I do over and over every day. But I didn’t have to scrub the toilets or vacuum the floors and it was REALLY nice. My list was long and he did it all. He hasn’t had a lot of work since we have been home and I am so grateful for all of his help with the kids and sharing responsibilities.

We also had a bit of a heat wave in LA this week so Friday we quit school early to do outside water play and it was perfect. For one afternoon it didn’t feel like quarantine and home school, it felt like a relaxing day at home. The kids had the best time and it was wonderful. The weekend was nice too, though Friday took the cake with outdoor play, baking, Shabbat with friends and a game night. Now I have a bit of the Sunday night blues but hopefully it will be a good week. The sun will be shining so that is a start.

So this is a photo of toilet paper I ordered in March just as the quarantine began. I ordered from what I thought was a legitimate site but went back to check my order two weeks later and the site was gone. I thought I was taken. Then today this came. This is what $72 worth of toilet paper looks like! Dollar bill for size reference LOL.

Activity #216457

Another week has passed and we continue to find ways to stay “busy” each day. The kids went back to online learning and have a bit more routine in the day. Their teachers have been meeting with them on zoom and we monitor and assist with school work. There is a lot of boredom. And a lot of screen time. And a lot of repetition. It feels a little strange to continue posting the same kind of photos week after week but that is our life now and it is what we are living. Wishing you all health and wellness in this stressful time.

And suddenly you were our everything.

Photographing precious newborn babies is such fun for so many reasons. As a mom, I am no longer in the “baby phase” of life and I miss those tiny little humans. I get my fix each and every time I get to photograph a newborn. I also absolutely love watching parents in the early stages of parenthood. There is such a newness, a love that is so rich and full- and I get to capture it for them. This sweet baby girl was perfectly sleepy throughout her session with me. I love the pictures we took and had such a great time documenting the love in this home.

Personal Pics!

In the last month I have taken a handful of personal photos that I wanted to share. First, I brought my camera to the Mother’s Day celebration with my family. It has been 6 months since the birth of my niece and we had not yet captured a photo of the six grandkids/cousins together so I thought it would be great to try. We did a photo with just the kids and one with my mom. The next photo session I did was for my husband’s birthday. I do not capture photos of him nearly as often as I should and thought I should try to capture this special time in his life. The last day I had my camera was Father’s Day. I brought it with both sides of our family to capture and document these times in our lives.

It was a beautiful afternoon when we captured the love and sweet moments of this gorgeous family in this beautiful setting. Holmby Park is a go-to location for me as it is central to many of the families I work with and has such a nice variety of greenery and “looks”. The addition of the skateboards was a great and personal touch. There were many sweet moments with the boys and the family, a mix of candids and portraits. Love is all you need

It is fun to step in to a family’s home and capture photos in a place that is a new creative canvas for me. This family had recently moved into a new home and wanted to capture some sweet new photos. We started with a more dressed up series of images and then took a more intimate and playful approach with a pajama party filled with laughs. I loved showcasing both sides and adore the pictures we took!

Love makes a family

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to meet new families step into their world for a short time. I get to watch their family dynamic and capture moments to freeze in time. This family was a joy to work with. The girls were over the moon to welcome their baby brother. They each wanted a turn to cuddle him for a photo, so much love and joy was captured in these precious moments. On newborn sessions, I strive to catch a variety of family pictures sibling shots and solo photos of the baby in those sweet little sleepy poses. Here are the pictures we took!

growing, growing!

This was my third shoot with this amazing family. The first shoot was when their precious little girl was just a baby, the second shoot was done when they were building their new home and this shoot was in their new home! It is so cool to photograph families over time and watch the children grow before my eyes. This time the kids were so grown up, enthusiastic and energetic. It was wonderful to see how they have matured yet still had the sweet innocence that only a child can have. All-in-all it was a wonderful shoot. Here they are:

Mason + Owen!

I photographed Mason about a year and a half ago and it was really fun to see how he has grown and changed! Well, he recently became a big brother to baby Owen and was so sweet with his little bro.
