It’s no secret that I absolutely love photographing newborn babies. I really enjoy going to people’s homes, often places I have never been to explore new ideas and get creative. I especially love when people come to me with ideas they have seen or personal items they want to incorporate because it gets me outside of my creative “box” to try something new. And often the ideas I go into a shoot with to serve as inspiration can lead to something so much better than I had hoped for! Here is a series of photos I did for a family who had just welcomed their little girl into their family. They had a few ideas going in and I was so excited to see them come to life! And the basket photos at the end with the floral wallpaper were a complete surprise as I saw the wall in their bathroom and HAD to use it! So many fun and creative photos came from this session, here are just a handful:
I completely respect my clients’ privacy which is why I always ask before using their photos online (blog, social media, etc). This family was fine for me to show a small sample of what we captured and I admire and respect that decision. I am always grateful to be able to show off my work and the amazing families I get to work with. Here are a few photos from this precious newborn session!
I am often asked when it is suggested to shoot maternity photos. I generally recommend 30-34 weeks, depending on how the mom-to-be is showing and feeling. There is a sweet spot where the pregnancy is still comfortable yet the mom clearly has a bump that can be seen. We don’t want to wait too long or baby could come early or mom could become a bit more immobile.
Newborn sessions are done in the baby’s first 14 days of life to ensure they are sleepy enough to capture those precious tucked up sleep shots. It is also the time before baby acne and dry skin start to appear. Here is a sample of a recent maternity and newborn sessions that I did for this loving family!
I am always excited when parents have personal items to incorporate into the newborn photo session. These awesome parents had some really fun and unique props that made for some really sweet photos with a personal touch. This little guy took a little while to fall asleep but once he was out we got some darling pictures. Here are my favorite photos of this loving threesome:
Abigail was a sleepy little newborn that I photographed recently. Her parents did a maternity shoot just a couple weeks before and it was so great to meet their beautiful baby girl. We did the shoot in their home and Abigail was so sleepy and tiny. I just love the photographs we took, here are my favorites from our shoot:
