If you have not yet visited Greystone Mansion, you absolutely should! It’s stunning gardens and old architecture make for a wonderful place to visit and a very special place to capture family photos. This family chose the perfect attire for the setting. How picture-perfect are these sisters in their matching dresses? We wandered the grounds late in the afternoon and took a mix of portraits and candid moments. I really love the pictures we took, here are a few favorites:
I really look forward to maternity sessions for first-time parents. They are excited to become parents and are so happy to be capturing this beautiful time in their lives. This couple traveled a ways from home to do the session and they could not have been more lovely. We shot at a woodsy West LA park that was the perfect backdrop for this session. Last week I was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Kokomo, Fiji with a group of travel agents and document their trip. Kara Slater was the one who organized the trip we took and she is an amazing, hard working travel agent based in Los Angeles: Visit Kara’s Website We left on a red-eye flight on Fiji Airways which was an experience on its own. We flew on a new aircraft and first class travel made for a very pleasant and enjoyable trip. We arrived in Nadi, Fiji and took a sea plane to Kokomo. The pilots of the plane were barefoot and gave us an awesome air tour of the Islands we passed. When we arrived on the Private Island of Kokomo, we were welcomed by a large group of hotel staff who sang a welcome song, gave us the traditional Fijian leis and we drank from Coconuts. Wow….what a start! For the next four days, we discovered the Island and toured the Resort, swam in crystal blue waters, ate the most delicious meals I have ever had and went on incredible and memorable adventures. We bounced on a trampoline in the middle of the ocean, did yoga in an outdoor studio overlooking the island, went fishing and scuba diving, we took golf carts and boats to travel, hiked through the jungle to swim in a waterfall explored the breathtaking spa and got to experience all their was to do in this magical place. We stayed in a 6 bedroom Residence that sat high on the Island and had 360 degree views. I brought my 5D Mark IV, a GoPro underwater camera and a Drone and had fun playing with the various tools to capture our adventures. I am still glowing from such a fun and memorable trip and highly recommend adding this place to your bucket list of places to visit. Contact Kara Slater if you have any questions at all!
I have been lucky enough to get to photograph this beautiful family since their first son was born. When they contacted me to do a maternity and newborn session as they were expecting their second child, I was so excited! We did the maternity session at the beach around sunset and it was completely magical. The lighting and weather were perfect and their little boy was such a love. So many precious photos and I adore the color palate! The newborn session was done in-home (as they always are) and again, it was a wonderful session. Their boys both did an amazing job and I love the photos we captured! Here is a little taste of both sessions.
Once again I have fallen behind on my blog posts. Life continues to be busy so it has been hard to find the time to update my blog. But here is a series of photos I captured for Paige Lauren Baby Clothing last fall. It was their Planet Collection and I really love the color palate. It has been awhile since I have been on the blog- it was a really busy fall photographing families for their holiday cards and I had to take a break from blogging for awhile. Now I am back to a normal shoot schedule and I am excited to show you some of the photo sessions I captured. This is a family I have had the pleasure of photographing since their second child was born. They recently had a third and it was an amazing shoot. The kids were so in love with their baby brother and the parents were kind and easy going. All-in-all it was a wonderful session! Here are some favorite moments captured:
It’s no secret that I absolutely love photographing newborn babies. I really enjoy going to people’s homes, often places I have never been to explore new ideas and get creative. I especially love when people come to me with ideas they have seen or personal items they want to incorporate because it gets me outside of my creative “box” to try something new. And often the ideas I go into a shoot with to serve as inspiration can lead to something so much better than I had hoped for! Here is a series of photos I did for a family who had just welcomed their little girl into their family. They had a few ideas going in and I was so excited to see them come to life! And the basket photos at the end with the floral wallpaper were a complete surprise as I saw the wall in their bathroom and HAD to use it! So many fun and creative photos came from this session, here are just a handful:
As the holiday mini sessions are starting, I am looking back on those captured last year with pride and joy. After I capture photos, I put them aside for some time, so as not to spoil them for my clients. I want you to be the first to show them off to family and friends. Whether it be on social media, birth announcements, or holiday cards, I can appreciate the element of surprise and would never want to spoil it. It is not easy to do since I really love showing them off but it is always worth the wait. I also think it is important to note that I never post images online without permission. Your privacy is of the utmost importance and I completely respect that it is your choice. I am always grateful to be able to showcase the families I capture! Here is a beautiful family I photographed last fall in one of my holiday mini session photography shoots. So many wonderful moments captured!
The holidays are a wonderful time filled with family, love, special events and parties, gifts, and celebration. But they can also be a stressful time for people getting ready- shopping, calendars filled with commitments, and so much more piled onto our already busy lives. Then there are holiday cards…do you send them out? For those who do this can be a daunting yet rewarding task. As much of a pain it is to take the photo, order/stamp/address and send the cards. But as much of a time consuming process as it is, it is so nice to receive them in the mail every year. I love seeing families and how the kids have grown. It is one of the only forms of mail that I really look forward to receiving anymore! I put them out in our home and the kids talk about them and look forward to adding new ones to the wall each day. It is a really nice tradition and is one that I hope never dies.
Below is a family session that I captured last year for the holidays. This was a weekday mini session done at a local park. I love the colors of the environment with the morning light combined with the light tones they are wearing. It is fun when families want to do a big family photo shoot to capture the different dynamics within their group. This family did photos to celebrate their patriarch’s 90th birthday. We captured the whole group, great grandchildren with great grandpa, cousins, siblings, individual families, couples, and many other variations. We did the session at one of the family homes.
